THE LITTLE BLACK LAMB

THE LITTLE BLACK LAMB

By Nancy E Rader

Written: June 12, 2003

The little black lamb lay helpless, cold, hungry, and weak.

His bleating cries fell unheard at his mother’s feet.

She wanted nothing to do with a son who’s fur was black,

So she left him to die right there in her tracks.

But the kind shepherd heard his bleating cries and was

There before he could close his eyes.

With arms so loving, kind, and strong, the shepherd

Carried him to the safety of the barn.

Where he fed and loved him till he was big and strong.

This world is full of people like that little black lamb,

Who don’t quite understand why this world won’t love

Them and give them a helping hand!

Maybe it’s the color of their skin, blind eyes, or crippled feet.

It does not matter what the difference is,

They just don’t fit in with the majority on the street.

Oh, why do we turn away our cheek from those

who are different that we meet?

Why can’t we reach out with arms of love and hold

Their hand the way the shepherd did that little black lamb

WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME WHEN I'M OLD

WILL YOU STILL LOVE ME WHEN I’M OLD?

    By Nancy E Rader

    Written: Oct. 25, 2002

I would ask of you, My Dear, A question I fear you may not want to hear.

Your love you say is true, strong, and bold, but Hun, the truest love grows cold.

It is this I fear to ask: “Will you still love me when I am old?”

When I am wrinkled, frail and gray, will you look at me

in the same sweet loving way?

And when Arthritis takes hold in it’s crippling way, “Will you still love me

When I am old and gray?”

When mine eyes shall dimmer grow and all I see is a trace

    of your handsome face,

Will you hold my wrinkled hand and caress my wrinkled face,

While you whisper to me softly, “Being old does not my love erase!

You are worth to me a world of Gold! Yes, my Darling, I still love you

    When your old!”

      LORD LIFT ME UP

      LORD LIFT ME UP

      BY Nancy E Rader

Lord, lift me up above this world so bleak.

Lift me high above the mountain peaks.

Hold me so close I can feel you loving cheek.

Lift me higher than eagles can sore.

Far, far away from this sinful, evil world

      Forever more!

This world is not what you meant it to be.

It is lonely, selfish, and full of sinful and evil debris!

Nobody knows or understands what true love is or

Even how to hold your hand!

So, please Lord, lift me up above this world to bleak,

And hold me close to your loving cheek!

      THE COLD NIGHT CRY

      THE COLD NIGHT CRY

      BY Nancy E Rader

“Give me a home,” cry the poor on the street. It’s so lonely and cold,

and there’s nothing to eat! This cardboard box, is my only retreat

from the bitter cold wind and the ice and the sleet.

You, You who sit in your warm houses of light, do you know

What it is to be lost in the cold dark night, with no warm

Food to eat, and no blankets to warm your sleep?

Have you ever walked all night to ease the pain of the bitter frost bite?

You have warm clothes and a heavy warm coat, with hats on you heads,

And scarves round your throat. Why, there’s even socks and boots

On your feet, to keep them from feeling the icy cold street.

Oh, Oh, How we long for a friendly warm smile, and a voice saying:

“Friend, come, sit with me for awhile. Here’s a warm blanket to keep

Out the cold, and a big pot of stew to eat, while the fireplace warms your

Frost bitten feet. Then when you are warm and full to the brim, there’s

A warm soft bed for you to rest in.”

Yes, my CRY RINGS out into the cold dark night, but there is NO ONE to

Hear my CRY and my FRIGHT! For your all warm and comfy with plenty

Of food to eat. Locked behind heavy sound proof doors,

      That holds in your heat!

        WIND GAMES

        WIND GAMES

        By Nancy E Rader

        (Written: the year 2000)

When I opened my window one windy day,

The wind rushed in and seemed to say,

“Come, come, come outside with me and play!

The wind then played games with my curtains,

Blowing them straight out, then Flapping and

Thrashing them all about, while saying to me….

        “Please come out!”

Then the wind blew so hard it knocked over

My new lamp. Making me say, “That does it

You windy tramp, I am going to come out and

        Make you pay!”

But when I raced out my door, the wind seemed

To say, “Come, come, lets play some more.”

I tried to yell back, “You big windy tramp,

You owe me for my new lamp!”

But the wind took my words and drowned

Them right out, while saying to me,

“You really shouldn’t shout. Come, let’s play

Wind games while you’re out and about.

Just think of the fun we can have, rustling

The leaves up in the trees, and making them

        Flutter around in the breeze.

And Oh, what laughter and fun, as we blow hats

Off humans, then watch them run down the

Street, trying once again their hats to meet.

Then there’s the fun of making the clouds

Twist and swirl until they create a big black whirl.

Blowing houses and trees all around in the breeze.”

“That’s it,” I cried, “Enough of these games! I must

Run fast to the safety of home and prepare

        For this disastrous storm!”

          Hi, -----------------------------

Welcome to my world of friends!

Friendship is like a lump of Gold!

So hard to find and even harder to hold!

So, if I may say something without sounding bold…

I welcome your friendship into my fold.

Where I promise to treasure it just like pure Gold,

And where I hope it will blossom and grow ten fold…

For a world without friends, creates sadness that never ends!

So welcome ______________________To my world of friends.

            FORGIVE ME NOTE

            By Nancy E Rader

            Written: The year 2000

            My Dearest Darling,

You have been so sweet to me,

Even when I have been angry and mean!

            What a sweetheart you are,

Trying to calm and tame your diamond in the raw!

Please forgive me for the storm that rages within me at times.

For Hun, you really are my clinging vine,

And your loving arms can make me feel so fine!

So kiss me, my sweet, and lets be friends,

For I really don’t want this relationship to end.

Kisses and hugs from the one you love,

            Me.

              DIZZY IN THE HEAD

              DIZZY IN THE HEAD

              By Nancy E Rader

              Written: The year 2001

My brother said, he was dizzy,

But since he was so busy he couldn’t go to bed.

So he stumbled and staggered and bumped into doors.

Bumping his head and stubbing his toes, while he tried

To complete his chores. Finally, he decided that when

You are dizzy in the head; the best place to be is curled

Up in your bed! So let this be a lesson

To all who are dizzy in the head, don’t try to fight it---

              Just go to bed!

(Note: My brother had challenged me to write

a poem about him being dizzy that day and I

took him up on it and wrote this crazy little poem.

My brother passed away June 10, 2009 and I

              Miss him a lot)

                LOVE IN BLOOM

                LOVE IN BLOOM

                By Nancy E Rader

                Written: The year 2001

Roses are red and violets are blue

Oh, how I miss holding hands with you!

Daisies are yellow and sometimes white,

Do you wish you could spend the night?

                Pansy’s have pretty little faces,

But there is nothing like seeing your handsome face!

Yes, flowers are beautiful when in full bloom,

But darling, I’d rather have you gracing my room.

You see sweetheart, flowers can’t talk and

Flowers can’t walk, and they don’t have arms

To embrace me to their heart.

But when you enter the room---Oh, baby

                Now the loving starts!

CAPTIVE LOVE OR LOVE SET FREE WHICH WILL IT BE?

CAPTIVE LOVE OR LOVE SET FREE….

                  WHICH WILL IT BE?

                  BY Nancy E Rader

                  Written: Nov 11, 2002

“I love you Eagle, and it hurts me so to see you soar

To heights and places I can’t go. So in captivity you must

Stay, to be with me throughout the live long day.

I will not let you fly away! So with me you must stay!”

But the eagle said to me, “An eagle held in your loving

Captivity, would not be happy don’t you see? He longs to be

Set Free, so he can spread his wings and be the eagle he

Chooses to be. Now, if you truly love me, please set me Free!

Let me be the eagle I choose to be, and not the one

Your love would have me to be.”

“You win,” I said. “I will set you Free to be the eagle you

Choose to be. Now fly away my friend above the trees

And soar and play in the gentle breeze. For that is what

You choose to be, an eagle set Free, to be the eagle he

Chooses to be. But please remember the love

I have for thee, and the sacrifice it took to set you Free.”

Friend, it is the same with us, don’t you see? If I love you I

Must set you Free, to be the man you choose to be.

You must live the life you choose and not the live I would

Have you choose. My love will now set you Free to be the

Man you choose to be. But as you go about the things

You love, please remember my sacrifice and love.

                  Your heavenly father from above.

THANK YOU NOTE TO A FRIEND

                    By Nancy E Rader

                    Written year 2002

God sent angels from heaven above to guard and

Protect the ones He loves. But sometimes God needs

A human hand, so God made you, Ann, with and angel

Heart, to reach out to others, and you willingly do your part!

Thank you so much for answering God’s call, and being

                    Willing to give your all!

(NOTE: This was written about Ann Stratton, my Mom’s

Neighbor. She was always looking for ways to

Help others, even if she never received a thank you.

So I wrote this little note to her attached to some flowers.

It was my way of saying Thank You for me and for everyone

                    Else.)

                      FUNNY LITTLE POEM

                      FUNNY LITTLE POEM

                      By Nancy E Rader

                      Written year 2000

Howdy do, and how are you?

                      Missing you and don’t know

                      Just what to do!

So I wrote this funny little poem,

                      To keep from feeling blue.

                      But there I go again,

                      Boohoo, Boohoo, Boohoo

Did you know that I love you?

(Note: This is the first poem that I ever wrote. It

was written after the death of my Dad, and I was missing

him a lot. It is published in a book, by the name of:

                        FINDING CHRISTMAS JOY

                        FINDING CHRISTMAS JOY

                        by Nancy E Rader

Christmas Joy for children comes from Santa, toys, & gleeful fun. But if you are older and not quite so young, where does your Christmas joy come from? Some folks find Christmas joy in the beauty of the glistening snow, sledding, shoveling and making angels in the snow. But if you don't think this sounds like fun, then where does your Christmas joy come from? There is always the Christmas shopping, fighting crowds, making cookies, wrapping presents and decorating the tree. But if this tires you out, where you can't have fun, then where does your Christmas joy come from?

Christmas joy should come from deep within your heart. Where Love for others should start. Giving to others in need and seeing the joy and happiness they have received. Christmas joy should not come from our own personal greed, but rather from love for others in need.

The first Christmas gift was sent with love from God above. For God sent His son to save a worldin need. Just to see the joy and happiness we would receive. Now that is true Christmas joy! Sent with love and signed from God above.
